The Protagonist Speaks is a website that interviews characters from people's favorite books. They just published an interview of Adam from Killing Adam! Check it out here: https://theprotagonistspeaks.com/2019/02/21/adam-of-killing-adam-by-earik-beann/...

Hi everyone, I was interviewed about Pointe Patrol by Marissa Frosch of Amphibian Press. We had a lot of fun talking about the book and covered a wide range of subjects including: the fires, Santa Rosa's issues with their telephone evacuation system, looters, and everyone's favorite member of the team, Oscar! Marissa has posted the interview on YouTube and you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHK4K0ZaJMI  ...

The North Bay Bohemian just published a great review of Pointe Patrol. Jonah Raskin writes, "[Beann] pays homage to the firefighters and police officers heralded as first responders, and also shows ordinary folks playing heroic roles during the transformation of Fountaingrove from a quiet suburban neighborhood to a no man's land and war zone." Check out the full article here: https://www.bohemian.com/northbay/hot-shot/Content?oid=8125275 . I think I'm going to have to go out and get about thirty of these for posterity! LOL...

I was invited to the Pat Kerrigan Show on KSRO to discuss writing Pointe Patrol. Pat and I covered all sorts of things, including: what it was like to sneak back into the mandatory evacuation zone dealing with the looter situation, and how we came to grips with all the different kinds of looters that we encountered, from "basic" looters with ski masks to more advanced looters who wore elaborate disguises what it felt like to bond with the neighbors...

Killing Adam just received its first editorial review from Indie Reader. Christina Salat gave it 4.5 stars, and the "IR Approved" award. "KILLING ADAM by Earik Beann is gripping, intricately plotted and philosophically potent science fiction novel in which the most powerfully developed intellect might still be subject to destructive delusions that may very well wind up destroying all humans hold dear." The sky is hazy today, and there is a heavy smell of smoke that is getting worse by the hour. As I stepped outside, I was greeted by that all-too-familiar smell, and was met with swirling pieces of white ash. There's a fire in Butte County, and the smoke has been pushed down into Sonoma by the wind. As I took a moment to stand alone in the street before getting into my car, I had a flashback to what...

One of the things that has become very obvious to me in my journey as an author is how difficult it is to get a 100% clean manuscript when it comes to typos and grammar errors. I read through Killing Adam at least 10 times on my own, my editor did two passes, and then her proofreading partner did a pass. But even with all three of us working on it, there were a handful of typos that made it...

Before I became a writer, I had already self published six books. Kind of a strange things to say, I know. I ran a software company, and a big part of what that company did was provide educational materials to stocks and futures traders. Those resources almost always took the form of a book. So back then, the way I would do it was to have a bunch of copies printed up and shipped over. The more you order, the...

If you've ever studied writing or stories, one of the big techniques you'll be familiar with is what is called the character arc. This is the change that a character undergoes in the story. For example, most people are familiar with Charles Dickens's famous character Ebenezer Scrooge. The guy was completely stingy and cold-hearted in the beginning of the story, but then becomes generous and loving at the end. That's his arc, and it was a dramatic one. I like arcs,...
